Anson, George, and Nellie Hall Diaries, Scrapbooks & Other Materials

Collection Overview:

Archival material relating to the Hall family of Raymondville, Norfolk, and Norwood, NY. Includes six diaries and transcriptions of diaries, two scrapbooks (with published books used as the base of the scrapbook); genealogical material, correspondence, photocopies, and a student essay.

Transcriptions of the diaries cover a wider date range than the actual diaries present in this collection, indicating that there may have been more diaries kept by family members. Original material dates from approximately 1879-1989. Earliest diary transcription is for 1844. Diaries were kept by Anson Stone Hall (1819-1903), George E. Hall (1849-1926), and Nellie E. Hall (1876-1901). Some genealogical material may be later than 1989. From 1852-1861 Anson Hall, with his wife Eleanor Webber Hall and son George E. Hall, went to California at the time of the gold rush.
